We’re shifting most new posts to Facebook.com/ORLFrontRunners so please check us out there! We meet Saturday mornings at 8:30, Monday nights at 6:30 and Wednesday nights at 7:30 at the red pagoda on Lake Eola near Panera. We’re about half walkers and half runners and also do many social events! Hope you can join us! Questions? Call or text Liam at 407-761-3083.
Let’s meet at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 7, at Magnolia Park on Lake Apopka. The park is a trailhead for the Lake Apopka Loop Trail, which eventually will circle the lake but for now goes aboout 3 miles out along the lake’s eastern and northern edge. Bring your own lunch; we can provide drinks.
It is the home of Birdapalooza, which is happening March 9. (http://www.birdapalooza.com/)
Here’s a map showing the park:
To get there, take Maitland Boulevard west from I-4. At the junction with S.R. 429 (Western Beltway), go south on 429 and take the first exit (Ocoee Apopka Road). Turn right, then right again on Binion Road. The park is on the left about a mile up.
Hope to see you out!

6 p.m. Sunday, April 29: OFRW drinks at the Brink, 47 W. Amelia St., behind Club Firestone, downtown Orlando. It’s $10 bottomless Sangria Sunday, or get 2-4-1 wells till 8 p.m. There are two outdoor patios too.
10 a.m. Sunday, May 13: Volleyball and potluck picnic at Rock Springs (Kelly Park), Apopka. We have Pavilion 2 rented. It holds about 20 people. First we’ll play volleyball, then we’ll fire up the grill about 11:30. Beware, the park *can* fill up, so arriving earlier may be better. Though with the kids still in school, I doubt it will. To get to Kelly Park, take 441 (OBT) north to Apopka and turn right at Park Avenue, which becomes Rock Springs Road. At the T-junction a few miles north, turn right and the park will be on the right a mile up. You can (and I would) rent tubes at Ron’s, 4550 Rock Springs Road, for $3 per person (another place closer to the park has them for $4). Kelly Park admission is $3 per vehicle for 1-2 people; $5 per vehicle for 3-8 people. We’ll provide the meats, charcoal, condiments, sodas, water, plates, cups and utensils. You bring the sides and desserts.
8 a.m. Saturday, May 19: AIDS Walk Orlando at Lake Eola. For those who wish, we’ll forgo our usual walk/run and walk as a group in this. Let’s meet at the red pagoda at 8 a.m. as usual, but then head to the walk start, which is at 8:30. OFRW will match 50 cents on the dollar up to a total of $500 from the club for those who register with Team OFRW. Go here to do that and find OFRW in the list of teams:
May is dues month! Checks made out to OFRW for $15 per person (no couples deals anymore) can be given to any board member or mailed to:
